Make Sense Not War

Art Graffiti Street Art Video

Arcada is a multi-professional university of applied sciences located in Helsinki. Their media students made a short documentary about street art and graffiti in Finland.

They interviewed one graffiti artist and one street artist, first one being Yours Truly, the latter Jussi TwoSeven. Check the video above! I have to admit that even if I hate watching and listening myself on tape, the documentary in general is very well executed. It probably answers a lot questions concerning both Jussi TwoSeven’s and my motives and what drives us forward.

Sotajumala

Art Graffiti Music Video

Sotajumala is a kick ass finnish death metal band from Jyväskylä. They released “Raunioissa” album at January 16th 2015. A video “Sinä et ole yhtään mitään” (translates to You are close to nothing) was released a month before. The song itself immediatelly became my favourite track from the band and the video was nicely executed, plain old band video. Yup, the one you see in the beginning of this post. I asked my wife would it be possible to do a graffiti video which would pay homage to the original music video. She said she’d give it a shot.

First task was to get permission from the band. Both for the idea as well as for using the song. So I sent an email, being sure that they wouldn’t answer. But they did, relatively soon even! And gave me permission and wished luck with the project! I love the band even more. Continue Reading

Raw Deal visits Copenhangen

Graffiti Video Work

I visited Denmark few days ago with my wife and Raw Deal crewmates Psyke and Round. The trip was awesome! We painted some, toured some and even met some old and new friends during our stay. I’ll update flicks to portfolio as soon as I recover from the trip and get cameras memory card’s emptied on my computer.

Oh, my wife filmed quite a lot footage from the trip, hopefully we’ll got something edited and published soon.

Slider

Art Graffiti Video

Slider (Bandits) is multitalented graffiti writer from Dresden, Germany. Once upon a time (late 2013) he arranged an online competition on his Facebook-page where participants were given the task to draw “Slider” outlines. Slider himself would choose the winner and paint a piece to him/her. I naturally took part in the contest – How could I miss an opportunity like this?

Well, I didn’t win.

But I held liking in the lines I drew. What can I say, the word “Slider” does have good letters. And I hate to draw stuff which doesn’t end up being used somehow, somewhere. So later on I asked Slider would he have anything against it if I’d paint a “Slider” piece based on the sketch I sent for the contest. Quite the opposite, he actually gave green light and said he’d be more than interested to see what I come up with.

It took me some time to find a suitable moment for this project, but finally on early December 2014 I found a good spot and had all the colors sorted out for the painting. Considering Slider is a Molotow supported artist, I naturally felt that my version of “Slider” should be painted with Molotow colors as well.

Since more than a year had passed since the competition, I decided not to use the original sketches I drew for the competition. I made new ones instead, which in my opinion turned out even better.

So, here’s the piece, couple of making of shots and a short video above from the overall project.

Thanks again to my wife for editing the video.

Äctonmeister

Graffiti Video

I visited Kalasatama graffiti walls at March 6th, 2014. For quite some time I’ve been planning on painting a piece with very limited color scheme and for certain reasons the color scheme of Jägermeister has been on my mind. Black, orange, a hint of bottle green glow. And gray, which is nearly black, considering that during daytime there really isn’t “deep black” but different shades of gray anyways. Continue Reading
