Rakkaudesta vapauteen ("For the Love of Freedom") was an exhibition held at Kerava Art and Museum Center Sinkka in the autumn 2017. It was curated by Jouni Väänänen. The exhibition happened to be the first exhibition in Finland based solely on graffiti. I was one of the presented artists, which I am very grateful of.
Since I was “just” one of the many artists presented in the exhibition and had nothing to do with the actual planning process, I won’t even try to explain the time consuming and nerve wrecking process behind the exhibition. Other than once the work was finished, it really was an exhibition that I’d call success on every aspects. The description of the exhibition is readable at the website of the museum, link here (only in finnish though). But I gotta say that getting the german graffiti super star and artist extraordinaire MadC to take part in the exhibition is by any standards a huge achievement. And she did not only present her works inside the museum, she also painted two large walls outside the museum. You can imagine the pressure it put on the rest of us artists when we heard that one of the best and well known graffiti artists in the world will have her work on display with us.
All artist presented in the exhibition in alphabetical order: Acton | Egs | Eore | Jr. | Jani Tolin | Loop | MadC | Masters | Mion | Osek | Parasite | Psyke | Round | Skie | Skin | Tazer | Trama
And not only graffiti art was on display: a Raw Deal -video by media artist Saija Salonen as well as vast amount of historical photographs by Mikael “Pimpu” Kajander from finnish graffiti scene were displayed as part of the exhibition.
Unfortunately I shot only a handful of pictures from the exhibition, all with my mobile phone. If you are interested to see more (and better) pictures from the show, I recommend checking thru the social media and the websites of the artists. Few links at the bottom of this article.

This exhibition was one of the projects I worked on during the six month art grant period. The grant was provided by Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
Oh, one more thing: what I consider to be very cool, is that this very exhibition and all it’s artwork will continue to Oulu Art Museum in early 2018.
