Wasa Graffitilandia is an outdoor art exhibition in an abandoned amusement park in Vaasa, Finland. Over 100 artists took part in filling the place with all sorts of art during the summer 2021. I had the honour of being one of them with my crewmates from HRC.
We stormed the area in early summer. Since we were not the first artists on the spot, we were a bit nervous if there would be any space left for us. When we got on the spot we were both relieved and in awe: the park was huge. And there was plenty of place, even for a crew like ours. I painted about five smaller pieces during my three days visit, but my crew mates went haywire. I lost count how much they painted and I understand that they got the decorate some spots that wouldn’t be open for large public, at least not during the summer exhibition.
That’s right, since the park is huge the organisers reserved various spaces for future use. When the exhibition was open to public, fences divided the places left intact and the areas that were decorated. And as the title reveals, it became pretty soon certain that the event would be a round one and the round two would take place later the same year, as a winter edition of the event.
The pictures presented here are only a fraction of what the area had to offer and I am not even posting all of my or our crews work here. You gotta visit the place and experience them for yourself.
